This will ensure that Hitler will not have a Two Front War. -German invades Poland's western boundary on September 1, using new 3-wave military attack Blitzkrieg (Blitzkrieg map). 16 days later, the Soviet Union invades Poland from the east. -War declared on Germany by Britain and France! 3/9/39 -September 3rd will be the beginning of The Phoney War, where Britain and France make no moves until May of the following year. -President Roosevelt officially proclaims United States as a neutral country during the war. 5/10/39 -Canada declares war on Germany. A week earlier, Australia and New Zealand declared Germany, joining many European countries in the fight to stop Hitler. -A peace offer from Hitler was rejected from France and Britain. -250, 000 Britains have been called forth to join the British army. -The Western Front is attacked by Germany. -A 15 year treaty has been signed by Turkey and the Allies. -The German press urges for the bombing of Britain by Germany's air force. -Soviet forces enter Latvia. -Mussolini, the Italian leader, orders a reorganization of the Italian army, and calls for more troops. -Finland calls for mobilization. -The non-aggression pact between USSR and Finland has ended. Finland is attacked by land, air and sea by the Soviet Union. 30/11/39 -United States is allowed to sell arms to countries at war under a law passed by Congress and Franklin D. Roosevelt. -Finland's peace proposal has been rejected by Soviets. -Britain will send arms to Finland, in hopes to defeat Soviet hold on the country. -USSR has been removed from the League of Nations. 14/12/39 -Canadian troops arrive in Europe to aid Britain. -Troops from Finland enter the Soviet Union. 25/12/39

Frank Baum's novel. -Gone With the Wind, starring Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh, has movie audiences packing into theatres. The popular movie, based on Margaret Mitchell's novel of the same name, will go on to win 8 Academy Awards.
